Welcome everyone. This is a place where you can meet some of the people attending the 2019 Leadership In Design conference. No need to write a full bio, just a quick introduction.
Hi all, I'm a visual arts teacher at the Anglo-American School of Moscow. I teach DP Visual Arts and embed design thinking within my teaching to enhance my students' visual journals and process portfolios. I've always been a process over product kind of art teacher, especially when it comes to making the Arts accessible from all angles. I have some experience with makerspaces - both in international schools and an art museum setting. Adam was super generous in sharing his knowledge and I truly believe in a "pay-it-forward" mentality. I look forward to sharing resources and hearing how other like-minded (and perhaps not!) individuals are using design to move their various programs forward. A little food for thought: https://www.washingtonpost.com/education/2019/10/08/what-is-design-thinking-why-does-it-belong-classrooms/
I am head of design at the American School of Warsaw. Early in 2019 I realized that I was in the unique position to connect a diverse group of design teachers at top-tier international schools. Warsaw has been a relatively early adopter of design and built a new design center in 2016. We received so many inquiries about how our design program was established and the lessons we learned along the way. I learned to share liberally and don't try and cover up the mistakes we made! I can't wait to connect this extended design family in Warsaw. I am expecting something unique, fun...and probably unexpected.
